The concept
Biink asked us to make a half-documentary, half-YouTube video about carnival in Guadeloupe, in three episodes. It isn't quite a documentary: the idea was to blend vlog, documentary film and content creation.
Episode 1
The first episode goes back to the origins of the festival and gives the floor to two well-known figures of the Guadeloupe carnival, between the seafront at sunrise and long-form interviews.
Episode 2
The second episode follows a group from start to finish: the interview before setting off, make-up, heading out into the street and the parade all the way to the end of the avenue.
Episode 3
The final episode gets up close: the mas, po and snare-drum groups, a déboulé experienced from the inside with Voukoum, then the burning of Vaval that closes the season.
A documentary to make?
A story, a place, a trade, a season: we write, film and edit documentaries, from the first location scout to the final delivery, as a single film or as several episodes.
